How much time should you allow for print work?

"By when can this be ready?" is, after price, the most frequently asked question. The honest answer varies greatly by product type. This overview helps you plan, from business cards to a full trade-show package.

Turnaround time depends on three things: the product type, the print run, and how quickly you approve the digital proof. Below is a realistic overview per category, so you're not caught off guard when a deadline approaches.

1

Small format printing: 2 to 4 working days

Business cards, flyers, letterhead and stickers are our fastest category. As soon as your file is print-ready and you approve the proof, production starts right away. Larger print runs or special finishes (foil printing, embossing, die-cut shapes) usually add 1 to 2 working days on top.

  • Business cards, flyers, letterhead: 2 to 3 working days
  • Brochures (saddle-stitched or perfect-bound): 3 to 4 working days
  • Stickers and labels: 2 to 4 working days, depending on the cutting work
2

Large format printing: 3 to 5 working days

Site signs, banners, roll-up banners and beach flags need a little more time, mainly due to the mounting of the material (dibond, corrugated board, PVC fabric) and any finishing such as eyelets or a frame. A roll-up banner with a standard cassette is usually ready fastest; a custom site sign on corrugated board with a mounting frame needs the full 5 working days.

3

Graphic design: 1 to 5 weeks

A design process follows different logic than production: here, the number of concepts and feedback rounds matters most. A logo alone can be ready within 1 to 2 weeks; a full brand identity with several applications (business cards, letterhead, social media templates) usually runs to 3 to 5 weeks. Want to combine design and print in one process? Just add the two turnaround times together.

What can extend the turnaround time?

Two things cause delays most often, and both are entirely avoidable:

  • A file that isn't print-ready — wrong colour mode (RGB instead of CMYK), missing bleed or too low a resolution. We check every file, but a correction round takes time.
  • Slow approval of the proof — the clock only starts once you give the go-ahead. Respond quickly to our proof to make full use of the turnaround time.
  • Busy periods — around year-end and during trade-show season, average turnaround time is somewhat higher across the whole sector. Order a bit earlier during those times if you can.

Need it in a hurry?

Working to a tight deadline? Just mention it with your quote request. For many products, faster delivery is possible, depending on material, print run and the current workshop schedule. The sooner you let us know your deadline, the greater the chance we can meet it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Print turnaround time: your questions

How many days in advance should I order business cards?

Allow 2 to 4 working days after approving the proof, for a standard print run. Need them faster? Feel free to ask whether a rush option is possible.

Can print work be delivered with rush service?

For many products, faster delivery is possible, depending on material, print run and current scheduling. Mention your deadline with your quote request, and we'll look at the options.

Why does graphic design take longer than print work?

Design is a creative process with concepts and feedback rounds, while print work is a production process once the file is finalised. Both can be combined, but follow a different schedule.

What most often delays an order?

Usually it's a file that isn't print-ready (wrong colour mode, no bleed, low resolution) or slow approval of the digital proof. Both are easy to avoid.

Can I track the turnaround time during busy periods?

Around year-end, trade shows and events, average turnaround time is somewhat higher due to workload across the whole sector. Order a bit earlier during those periods, or ask us about the current schedule.
